Corbin Dull Takes Vilano

August 3rd, 2008 · No Comments

This year’s pro final at Vilano was not full of A-framing wraps or liners. Rather, due to the lack of swell, the event became a platform displaying the technical side of today’s skimboarding. Right on top, showcasing his smooth, effortless style and tech savvyness was Corbin Dull, a Panama City local, who took out the competition in desperate conditions. Corbin matched fellow competitors maneuvers, but punctuated his in the critical sections of the waves often landing right in the pocket or directly on the wet sand.

It was a very close heat. The judges had their hands full and the conditions didn’t allow for an obvious winner. Despite the poor conditions, the pros demonstrated how to raise the level of riding with a plethora tech tricks. Brad Domke finished 2nd by pulling off a 540 shuv it, bigger spin, as well as many other knee bending tricks. Right there behind Brad was California transplant Woody Harris, who earned his 3rd place by doing several tricks out to waves. Rounding out the top four was Bill Bryan. Bill mixed his heat performance up with switch, fakie, and regular stance rides that left the judges and spectators stunned.
